Smita Arora is a textile artist whose work is rooted in emotion and a lifelong love for India’s rich craft traditions. With around three decades in textiles and design, her creative perspective was shaped as much by years of traveling through Europe and collaborating with artists worldwide as it was by time spent in her own studio. That journey only deepened her connection to the extraordinary diversity of Indian embroidery - the idea that every region holds its own story, told through a distinct stitch. This reverence for regional craft is the heartbeat of her practice. Using embroidery, surface dyeing, and mixed media, she captures the quiet undercurrents of everyday life, creating pieces meant to be felt rather than analyzed.
